Between Palamós and Calella de Palafrugell, situated in front of Cap de Planes, we find a group of reddish and grey islets known as the Formigues Islands. On the largest island there is a lighthouse and the area is a protected marine reserve.

In general, the seabed is rocky, with numerous crevices, holes and small canyons. We will need to pay close attention to all these crevices, as we will very likely spot groupers, moray eels and conger eels inside them. At the top of the rock we can find sea urchins, starfish and abundant posidonia.
