Between Palamós and Calella de Palafrugell, situated in front of Cap de Planes, we find a group of small islets with reddish and greyish tones known as the Illes Formigues. On the largest island there is a small navigation lighthouse, as this area has shallow waters.
In general, the seabed is rocky, with numerous cracks, holes and small canyons. We must pay close attention to all these cracks, as we will observe coral formations and the occasional lobster.
All the walls are filled with red and white gorgonians. We may encounter large scorpionfish, white seabream and the occasional grouper.
If we move away from the main rocky area, a sandy seabed with Posidonia will appear before us.
