The idea of submerging below the surface at night seems mysterious, even seductive. Even if you have dived a site many times before, at night you enter a completely new world and watch it come to life under the beam of your diving torch. The scene changes, the creatures present during the day retreat and nocturnal organisms emerge. If you have ever wondered what happens when sunlight disappears, you can sign up for the PADI Night Diving Specialty course.

The certification serves as credit towards the PADI Master Scuba Diver level.

How is the course carried out?

PADI Night Diving Course
Night diving teaches you to focus on what you can see under the beam of your torch, control your buoyancy by feel, stay with your buddy and pay attention to details you may overlook during the day. During three night dives, you will practise:
  • Torch handling techniques and communications.
  • Entering, exiting and navigating in the dark.
  • Identifying how plants and animals differ or change their behaviour at night.
Along with your basic diving equipment, you will need a primary diving torch and you will also want a backup torch.

Requirements

  • Hold the Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver certification.
  • Minimum age 12 years.
  • Hold an official medical certificate no older than 2 years.
  • Hold diving insurance (if you do not have one, we can arrange it).
