The PADI Open Water course is the initial course in which you will learn fundamental notions about diving. In this course you will approach the underwater world step by step, in an enjoyable, simple and fun way, with complete safety and always under the supervision of a certified instructor.

After the course you will obtain an official certificate that will allow you to dive autonomously to a depth of 18 metres anywhere in the world. As a certified diver, fabulous diving destinations, exciting people, incomparable adventures and incredible sensations await you.

The 5 Main Reasons to do your PADI Open Water course at Gidive

We fully comply with the PADI Open Water course standards.
We carry out 8 independent dives and 1 freediving session.
One of the dives is from the boat.

The PADI Open Water course is divided into three modules:

1 freediving session to become familiar with the equipment, snorkel breathing and to practise effective finning.
4 confined water dives in the sea where the basic diving skills and buoyancy control are taught.
4 open water dives in the sea where you will practise these skills in a typical diving situation.
5 theory sessions where the basic principles and knowledge necessary for safe and enjoyable diving are provided.
You will also receive a PADI eLearning code to download the theory on your mobile or tablet. In this way, you can follow the lessons and have the course contents available at all times.

Once you have completed your Open Water Diver course you can continue with your training and start the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course or take some of the PADI Specialty courses.

Course requirements

Be 10 years of age.
Children aged 10 to 14 obtain the Junior Open Water Diver certification (at 10 and 11 years of age maximum depth is limited to 12 metres). Once they turn 15, it is automatically upgraded to Open Water Diver.
Be able to swim.
Hold an official medical certificate no older than 2 years.

What does the course include?

Duration: 3 consecutive days or 2 weekends.
Number of dives: 8 (4 in confined water and 4 in open water).
Approximate schedule: from 9 to 14 hours and from 16 to 18:30 hours
The course includes the teaching materials.
ALL diving equipment necessary during the course.
Insurance for the full duration of the course.
All practical sessions are carried out under the direct supervision of certified instructors, always following the most rigorous safety measures.
